Job Purpose:

The Manager, Engineering position supervises development functions (primarily engineering, but may include QA, localization, and/or technical communications) of a product line applying the Tungsten Automation development processes, best practices, and procedures to deliver high-quality products. This position is responsible for the operating performance of the team, product reliability, and quality of the products.

The role is responsible for the project and resource management. This position must lead technical staff and resources through the entire software development life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute and successfully deliver on mid to large-scale projects
  • Provide mentoring and direction to team members
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, platforms, and third-party software that may be advantageous for Tungsten Automation's products.
  • Participate in the planning, acquisition, allocation, and management of Development’s hardware and software resources.
  • Respond to requests for technical and product assistance from Technical Support and Sales.
  • Provide input to, follow, and be supportive of the Tungsten Automation Product Development Process
  • Work with Product Management to understand the long-term vision for Tungsten Automation's products in order that short-term decisions and trade-offs can be made with the long term in mind.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Domestic and/or International travel up to 10% is required

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of software development experience, and at least 3 years of management experience.
  • Experience building and maintaining productive and performing engineering teams.
  • Experience interfacing with product delivery/service teams, such as Technical Support and Consulting Services.
  • Experience defining and enforcing development processes.
  • Ability to define infrastructure needs and work with IT group to acquire needed assets.
  • Ability to participate in architectural and technical design discussions.
  • Experience working directly with customers to resolve product issues.
  • Demonstrable experience working with Product Management, Technical Publications, and QA teams.
  • Experience developing and supporting commercial software products.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or Engineering.
