The Role
Square is looking for an Creative Director, Campaigns (IC) to join our London-based creative team and lead the development of brand and marketing campaigns across the UK, France, and Spain. This is a senior individual contributor role with a strong foundation in art direction, visual systems, and concept-led design. While the role is not a writing position, it requires the ability to partner closely with writers, oversee copy development, and ensure language, tone, and messaging feel culturally fluent to the market. Leadership in this role comes through creative vision, strategic thinking, and hands-on creative direction rather than direct people management.
Reporting to the Creative Director, EU/UK, and partnering closely with the Creative Director for the market, you'll help define and deliver integrated campaigns that tell Square's story and show merchants how they can run and grow their businesses with Square.
In this role, you'll originate and drive concept-led creative that can scale globally while resonating locally. You'll work across channels including brand and product marketing campaigns, web, social, email, experiential, broadcast, and print—guiding work from early strategy and concept through execution, and setting a high creative bar through the strength of your ideas and craft.
Creative Directors (IC) at Square are senior creative leaders within multidisciplinary teams of designers, writers, producers, and program managers. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional partners including Strategy, Brand and Product Marketing, Regional Marketing, Video, Photo, Production Design, and Product Design, bringing clarity, taste, and momentum to complex creative problems.
You will contribute to some of Square's most visible work in the UK and EU, helping grow brand awareness and preference while supporting sellers across diverse markets. Our team exists to tell the best possible stories about Square's brand, products, and ecosystem—so our sellers feel confident, inspired, and empowered to succeed.

You Will
- Lead the creative development of integrated campaigns across the UK, France, and Spain as a senior individual contributor, with a primary emphasis on art direction and visual storytelling
- Partner closely with writers and the market Creative Director to shape campaign ideas, narrative structure, and tone
- Act as a creative steward for regional voice and tone, ensuring copy feels authentic and culturally resonant
- Provide clear creative direction and feedback on copy without owning day-to-day writing responsibilities
- Set creative direction through concepting, visual exploration, and hands-on art direction and design
- Ensure strong integration of visual and verbal ideas across all campaign touchpoints
You Have
- 10+ years of industry experience, with deep experience in concept-driven brand or marketing campaigns
- Strong sense of both product and brand realms
- Proven track record leading large-scale, integrated campaigns as a senior individual contributor
- Understanding of how to leverage creativity to meet business goals
- Extensive experience partnering with Creative Directors, strategists, and senior cross-functional stakeholders
- Exceptional art direction skills, with a proven ability to lead visually driven campaign work
- Strong editorial judgment and copy sensibility, with the ability to evaluate, shape, and elevate written work in partnership with writers
- Deep understanding of British cultural tone, humor, and nuance, and how it translates into brand communications
- Ability to collaborate effectively with writers while maintaining a clear point of view on creative quality and cohesion
- Experience ensuring visual and verbal systems work together seamlessly across channels and markets
- Extreme empathy for the customer, your teammates, and the company mission
