Job Description

Team:

We are seeking a Manager, Software Engineering, to grow and lead a team in our Cloud Platform group for in-office flex in our Kirkland office.

The Cloud Platform group has teams that provide APIs for deployment, configuration, and management of our platform components. We manage to keep all our components in compliance with their backup policies and executing any restores needed.

This role will focus on developing implementations for our CLI APIs inside of our central command and control platforms for use by orchestration.

What you get to do in this role:

  • Manage and lead a group of 6 engineers on the Cloud Platform group.
  • Collaborate with your development team on their day-to-day activities.
  • You'll mentor, grow, and develop the engineers.
  • Management of departmental resources like recruiting, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team
  • Help contribute to your team’s project (coding 10-15%) and conduct code reviews.
  • Be comfortable in ServiceNow platform to be able to navigate the application architecture and features.
  • Work closely with product management, design, support, and other dev teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • You'll plan and execute a project based on organization priorities, context, risks, and desired outcomes.
  • Be comfortable and use quick thinking and innovative ideas to solve ambiguous problems.
  • Deliver outstanding experience for our customers.

To be successful in the role:

  • 6+ years of software industry experience and 3+ years of experience as a manager leading software developer.
  • Aptitude for understanding new technologies quickly.
  • Skilled at managing customer requirements and expectations.
  • Advanced understanding of software design, development, testing, and problem-solving.
  • Experience with supporting troubleshooting efforts of difficult production issues e.g. memory leaks, network problems, intermittent failures, etc. across the stack.
  • Ability to hire top talent and build a productive team.
  • Able to articulate broad concepts and use those concepts to understand and develop solutions for problems.
  • Experience with fundamentals in distributed systems design and development.
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment.

Preferred Experiences:

  • Experience developing applications on the ServiceNow Platform.
  • Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
  • Experience with database backup & restore technologies.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in Software Development especially in JavaScript and 3+ years as a manager.
  • 6+ years of experience in SaaS and/or Cloud infrastructure development.
  • Experience building and operating cloud-scale systems.
  • Hands-on experience with orchestration and automation of processes in cloud-scale environments

For positions in the Seattle metro/Kirkland areas, we offer a base pay of $158,500 - $277,500, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs (subject to eligibility requirements). Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located, and is subject to change based on work location.
