About the Role
Technical Program Managers (TPMs) play a meaningful role at Salesforce in leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives within our Technology, Marketing, and Products organizations. TPMs are responsible for programs from beginning to end, ensuring a better workflow and more effective communication. They work closely with executives and key company partners to drive critical programs and activities across the company.
As a Director of Technical Program Management for Event Technology, you will drive technology projects for some of the biggest enterprise technology events in the world, including TrailblazerDX, Connections, Tableau Conference, and Dreamforce. We are creating event attendee experiences that not only drive the business of the company, but also serve as premier showcases of what is possible with Salesforce products.
This is a high visibility role working on objectives critical to our Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Chief Digital Officer (CDO) while partnering closely with the teams developing our products. This role calls for great executive presence and experience talking with large sets of stakeholders, including at the C-suite level.

Your Impact
Lead programs by aligning across program scope and release planning, as well as aligning one or more teams on vision and business goals, crafting program structure, and securing cross-functional alignment
Drive teams through the software engineering experience using Agile methodologies and analytical and technical skills
Drive meetings with key partners for each program to help make key decisions, remove obstacles, and address key program issues; be the key driver to ensure business goals are met and drive the strategic vision of each program
Develop strong partnerships with key functional team members to drive focus on business goals; be a trusted partner for executive management to ensure program success
Partner with cross-functional teammates to drive workgroup alignment meetings to address tactical release issues, dependencies, team status, production issues, metrics review, and achievements (cross-functional partners include Product Owners, Marketing, Scrum Leads, UX, CX, and Marketing org stakeholders)
Lead "project/feature" dependencies across multiple teams, scrum teams, functions, divisions, and partners
Anticipate and remove obstacles with a sense of urgency that slow down or prevent project teams from delivering on project goals
Provide monthly program reviews and updates at sprint reviews (deep dive into the current state of project goals, risks, and critical issues)
Create a collaborative environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and learning
Be a catalyst within the organization, someone who can help advance our Technology, Marketing, and Products org strategy globally and drive others in the organization to change
Create clarity from chaos
Help shape project delivery standards to ensure predictable and repeatable processes, while showcasing agility and continuous improvement
Communicate clearly, often, and through multiple mediums (meeting facilitation, emails, Slack posts, presentations) regarding status of the various programs individually and taken together; executive-level differentiated communication is required
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience in technical leadership
10+ years of enterprise software/technical program or engineering management experience at an enterprise technology company
7+ years of conducting and leading SaaS product development programs with demonstrated understanding of the SaaS business model and its product development lifecycle
Deep experience with the software development lifecycle; ability to adjust and apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment using Agile methodologies
Experience with Portfolio Management

Outstanding organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills conducive to driving consensus

The typical base salary range for this position is $205,800 - $298,400 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $205,800 - $298,400 annually.
