What is a Specialist AE?
While a typical Salesforce Account Executive (AE) learns sales skills to maximize numbers from an account penetration perspective, a Product Specialist AE is required to view the business through the lens of "how to grow the business of the assigned segment." Therefore, in addition to honing the sales skills needed to close immediate deals, you will gain experience driving business forward with a "Generalist" perspective. Gaining this kind of experience within a large company like Salesforce offers a unique form of career advancement different from traditional sales roles.
The Appeal of a Data Cloud AE
Because Data Cloud is currently in the introductory phase of the product lifecycle, this is a highly attractive position offering consistent experience from the market launch phase through to growth and maturity. Furthermore, since the winning formula is not yet set in stone, it is a role where you can bring your own ideas and plans to life. With high company visibility and active investment in product development and marketing, this is a high-responsibility role, but success here will be a priceless asset to your career.
Responsibilities:
As a Specialist AE is still a sales role, the main mission is ACV (Annual Contract Value) acquisition. However, since you are also responsible for the growth of your assigned segment, you will be involved in various tasks beyond just handling business negotiations. Typical duties include:
Deal Support for Data Cloud: Supporting deals (sometimes leading the deal depending on the scenario).
Enablement: Planning and executing enablement for AEs.
PipeGen & Progression: Planning and executing events for pipeline generation and deal progression.
Public Speaking: Presenting at SWTT (Salesforce World Tour Tokyo) or private seminars.
Asset Creation: Creating and maintaining assets required for selling, such as case studies, knowledge bases, and content.
Analysis & Planning: Understanding and analyzing numbers (ACV, Pipeline, PipeGen) for the assigned segment, and planning/executing solutions for issues.
Stakeholder Management: Communicating with and formulating policies alongside the 3rd Line, 2nd Line, and 1st Line of the assigned segment.
Requirements:
The need to utilize external data to improve CRM, and the need to utilize data to generate high-quality output from AI, is expected to increase significantly. However, in the current "introductory phase," you must fully utilize all resources in your segment (People, Goods, Money, Information) to proactively target Innovators and Early Adopters and develop reference customers. Therefore, the ideal candidate is as follows:
Must-Have Skills/Experience
5~7 years of enterprise sales experience in the B2B/B2C SaaS or Cloud sector.
Ability to understand and explain the process required to sell a product that might be considered "Nice to Have" by the customer (Understanding and explaining the process of Solution Selling rather than Catalog Selling).
Ability to deconstruct problems/issues, prioritize, and take action (Analytical thinking).
Ability to flexibly change stance and behavior to achieve goals.
Ability to demonstrate leadership as the Owner of the assigned segment with a mid-to-long-term Growth perspective.
Welcome Skills/Experience
Sales experience with CDP, DWH, or Data Lake.
Experience going through a full product lifecycle from introduction to maturity.
