We are building new and innovative capabilities and extending core Salesforce offerings into Industry specific use cases, as well as drawing inspiration from mind-blowing innovations in other industries.
To drive forward the Energy & Utilities applications, Salesforce Industries is recruiting a highly successful senior Product Manager to join our Energy and Utilities growing product organization. This individual contributor will be a key member of the Energy and Utilities product team and will have responsibility for helping to define the Energy & Utilities Cloud Applications, defining job stories, user stories and product requirements, managing the product backlog, and working with the engineering team and other groups to ensure successful delivery of highly valuable, usable, scalable, extensible, and maintainable applications for the Energy and Utilities Industries on the Salesforce platform.
This role will work with the Senior Director of Product for Energy & Utilities and the General Manager for Energy & Utilities Cloud to build and shape the Salesforce Energy & Utilities vertical applications as well as products that support multiple industries at Salesforce. As a Product Manager at Salesforce Industries in our Bangalore office, you are responsible for leading the application requirements definition and driving to successful product outcomes with the engineering, quality, performance, and development operations teams. You will work in a highly agile environment, with other product leaders, engineers, quality engineers, core Salesforce teams, and customers, as well as with our leadership team, using iterative and test-driven design methods. You will drive product outcomes with the configuration and engineering teams who will be configuring and developing modern, web-based applications for the Salesforce platform using the Salesforce Industries’ technology stacks including business process libraries, OmniScript, Cards framework, etc. At times you will also be expected to play a hands on role in configuring the system and contributing the successful product and application outcomes.
You will report in to the General Manager for Energy & Utilities and will collaborate with an extended team across the organization in India and around the world.
Specific responsibilities include:
Create job stories, use cases, and user stories for the Energy and Utilities industry data model, Applications, Modules (e.g. New Connections, Emergency Management, Sales), and platform capabilities to drive forward new and compelling industry solutions for utilities and retail energy providers.
In conjunction with Director of Product Management, own the product release roadmaps
Own and manage the backlog for key product areas; continuously prioritize, and ensure that 2+ sprints of the backlog are always ready
Pair with the Software Delivery Manager to ensure healthy and productive relationship between product management and engineering
70%+ daily engagement with the team; facilitates discussion, provides clarification, story acceptance, and refinement, testing, and validation; contributes to design activities.
Collaborate with Salesforce Industries business analysts and design teams to expand our library of productized business processes and guide development of future Energy and Utilities modules and features.
Work with PMs in other clouds like IoT, Einstein, etc to identify what we can leverage/extend/optimize for industries
Work with our Industries experts to define the next business problem to solve that brings multiplier effect for our team
Engage with customers, partners, and ISVs, along with product ambassadors from across Salesforce.
Work closely with our industry experts, other product managers, engineers, and services teams, as well as customers and partners, to understand and document energy providers’ “jobs to be done” in sales, service, marketing, and operations at a detailed level.
Contribute heavily to the product strategy for the industry and help determine the product and applications roadmap.
Minimum Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in enterprise software development and/or product development/ management
6+ years of experience as a Product Manager leading the end-to-end product lifecycle for enterprise software products, with hands-on experience in customer experience, customer service, and/or energy management platforms, preferably serving utilities or retail energy providers.
Demonstrated ability to understand customer business strategies, operational objectives, and industry needs, and to translate those into Application requirements that lead to development of valuable and effective industry solutions.
Enterprise architecture comprehension and experience
Strong Product Management skills
Ability to work in a team of other PMs who have dependencies on you and vice versa. Others would leverage much of what you work on with corresponding needs for their functionality.
Self-directed, with the ability to break down a complex process, assign actions, and manage progress toward a deadline.
Experience with Agile development
Understanding of object-oriented design patterns and some experience with OO languages (Java, Ruby, Python, Scala etc)
Enterprise software development experience
Experience with and knowledge of relational databases
Highly motivated to learn and proactively engage
Experience and desire to work within a fast-paced, iterative development environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to define and drive the creation of net-new software products that were successfully brought to market.
Experience working with or in the Utilities industry is highly preferred
Salesforce skills, experience, and certifications (e.g. Administrator Certification, Developer Certification, Apex, VisualForce, Lightning, LWCs)
Prior experience working with Salesforce, SAP Utilities, SAP CRM, Bit2Win, Opower (or competitor), Uplight, AutoGrid, or Oracle Utilities products and technologies is highly valued. Also prior work within global systems integration firms, e.g. Accenture, IBM, PWC, Wipro, etc.
Hands-on Data Structure and Algorithms experience
Experience with “Jobs to be Done” and “Outcome-Driven Innovation”
Experience with software user experience design and prototyping
Experience as an Enterprise Architect or designing technical solutions at the level of an enterprise architect
Experience designing and or developing Java, SOAP, REST (JSON, XML)
