As a member of the Controllership Organisation, the Director of Controllership Data Stewardship & Workday Reporting Operations will lead a team responsible for governing, curating, and enabling high-quality Finance and People data across Workday Financials, Workday HCM, and related enterprise systems. This role ensures that data is trusted, well-managed, and consistently available to support global reporting, analytics, and regulatory needs. The Director will oversee the operating model for Workday reporting in India, drive continuous improvement in data processes, and partner closely with global Finance, HR, and Technology leaders.
1. Strategic Leadership & Data Governance
Define and drive the long-term data stewardship strategy for Finance and HCM data.
Lead the establishment of data governance frameworks, standards, and controls, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
Champion a culture of data responsibility and data literacy across the organization.
2. Workday Reporting Operating Model Oversight
Own and optimize the Workday reporting operating model delivered from India.
Ensure delivery of high-quality, timely, and scalable reports, dashboards, and data extracts for global Finance and HR stakeholders.
Manage prioritization, intake, and alignment with global reporting strategies.
3. Team Leadership & Capability Building
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data stewards and Workday reporting specialists.
Build best-in-class capabilities in data curation, metadata management, data quality monitoring, and Workday reporting.
Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation.
4. Cross-Functional Partnership
Collaborate with Finance, HR, Technology, and Analytics teams globally to ensure alignment between data governance, reporting requirements, and system capabilities.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders on data quality, report design, and Workday data dependencies.
Support strategic projects involving data remediation, data model evolution, or system upgrades.
5. Data Quality, Controls & Compliance
Oversee implementation of data quality rules, issue management processes, and remediation plans.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, including SOX-related data governance activities for Finance reporting.
Monitor data usage, access, and retention to maintain trust and operational excellence.
6. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Drive automation, standardization, and process optimization within data stewardship and reporting workflows.
Evaluate new technologies, Workday features, and reporting tools to enhance scalability and efficiency.
Requirement
15+ years of experience in data governance, reporting operations, or data management roles, ideally in a global organization.
Strong background in Workday Financials and/or Workday HCM reporting.
Background in financial audit and/or accounting operations is required.
Experience managing large teams and operating models in shared-service or global capability center environments.
Solid understanding of Finance or HR processes; experience in audit, finance operations, or accounting is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to work with senior executives and influence at all levels.
