About Salesforce
Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, where humans with agents drive customer success together. Here, ambition meets action. Tech meets trust. And innovation isn’t a buzzword — it’s a way of life. The world of work as we know it is changing and we're looking for Trailblazers who are passionate about bettering business and the world through AI, driving innovation, and keeping Salesforce's core values at the heart of it all.
Ready to level-up your career at the company leading workforce transformation in the agentic era? You’re in the right place! Agentforce is the future of AI, and you are the future of Salesforce.
Are you a data-savvy engineer who excels at transforming complex technical data into clear, actionable insights? Do you want to build the analytics backbone that will guide our entire engineering strategy?
Our Engineering Excellence team is redefining how software is built, tested, and delivered across the enterprise. As the data and analytics lead on this team, you will own the critical mission of turning the data generated by our new engineering platforms into a compelling, strategic narrative. You will design and build the dashboards that our developers, architects, and executive leaders will use every day to make data-driven decisions.
This is a high-visibility role for a technically strong, collaborative, and product-focused individual. We are looking for a strategic partner who can spar on data visualization, independently drive our analytics strategy, and tell the story of our engineering organization's health and velocity in a way that resonates with everyone.
What You'll Be Doing
Own the Analytics Vision: You will be the primary owner of our engineering analytics. You'll design, build, and maintain a suite of powerful, intuitive dashboards in Tableau that visualize key metrics related to engineering velocity, software quality, and operational health.
Tell the Story with Data: Translate complex system and process data into clear, compelling visual stories that guide team priorities and inform leadership on strategic opportunities.
Build the Data Foundation: You will be given access to our core data sources and be expected to independently architect and implement the data pipelines required for analysis. This includes defining data models and building robust ETL processes to feed our analytics platforms.
Lead and Influence: Confidently present your dashboards and findings to product leads, engineering directors, and VPs. You will be expected to answer challenging questions, logically defend your visualization choices, and act as the subject matter expert on engineering intelligence.
Be a Strategic Partner: Act as a key sparring partner to the Director of Engineering Excellence. You will proactively identify trends, propose new metrics, and help define what a healthy, high-velocity engineering culture looks like through data.
Required Skills & Experience
Tableau Mastery: Expert-level, hands-on proficiency in Tableau is a must. This includes everything from data source optimization and complex calculations to designing visually stunning and highly performant dashboards.
Expert ETL and Data Pipeline Development: Proven, hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining robust ETL/ELT pipelines is mandatory. You must be proficient with enterprise-grade ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Airflow) and able to independently connect to diverse data sources.
Technical Acumen: A solid background in software development is required, with strong proficiency in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and automation.
Strong SQL Foundation: Deep expertise in writing complex, efficient SQL to query and manipulate large, intricate datasets.
Cloud Proficiency (AWS): Hands-on experience building and deploying data solutions on cloud platforms, particularly AWS. You should be comfortable with core services like S3, IAM, Glue, or Lambda for data processing and storage.
Exceptional Communication: Proven ability to present complex data to diverse audiences. You are a clear, logical communicator who is comfortable in a room with senior leadership.
Product & User Focus: A strong ability to think from a user's perspective, whether that user is an engineer trying to fix a bug or an executive assessing risk.
Desired Skills
Salesforce Platform Knowledge: An understanding of the Salesforce platform, its metadata, and common development patterns is a significant asset that will help you understand the context of the data.
Cloud Data Warehousing: Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms like Snowflake.
Java Familiarity: familiarity with the language is a plus.
Statistical Analysis: Experience with basic statistical concepts and their application in data analysis.
Growth & Impact
This is more than a data role; you are the storyteller for Engineering Excellence. Your work will directly shape how our engineering leaders view and measure success, from individual team velocity to org-wide system health. You'll have high visibility with senior leadership, and your insights will be a critical input for our strategic planning.
