MissionForce Applications & Public Sector Solutions
MissionForce is seeking an exceptional Director of Engineering to lead our mission-critical platform development. This director will oversee multiple scrum teams delivering MissionForce proprietary applications for the Public Sector.
In this technical leadership role, you will develop and architect solutions on Salesforce Government Cloud serving the Department of Defense, Federal agencies, and the Intelligence Community.
You will work with cutting-edge Salesforce technologies including Lightning Web Components, Apex, and Public Sector Solutions while ensuring compliance with FedRAMP, DoD IL4/IL5, and other government security requirements. This is a hands-on technical leadership position directly managing software engineers and contributing code while mentoring junior developers and driving technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
Hire and retain exceptional software to deliver MissionForce applications.
Set technical direction and manage execution with high predictability and velocity for multiple scrum teams including cross functional dependencies.
Create a culture of Agile Excellence with iterative delivery and feedback loops from customers.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development team members
Collaborate with architects on technical design decisions
Contribute to technical development, code reviews and knowledge sharing
Platform Expertise
Build expertise in Government Cloud limitations and workarounds (restricted APIs, limited AppExchange availability)
Develop reusable components leveraging Lightning Web Components optimized for government use cases
Infuse AI into every aspect of the development lifecycle
Create frameworks for multi-agency deployments with configurable security models
Design data residency solutions ensuring compliance with data sovereignty requirements
Team Building & Organizational Development
Build world-class engineering teams capable of obtaining and maintaining security clearances
Create talent pipelines specifically for cleared or clearable Salesforce developers
Develop training programs for government-specific Salesforce implementations
Foster culture of continuous learning around evolving government compliance requirements
Delivery Excellence
Agile Metrics: Track and improve velocity, cycle time, defect rates, and release predictability
Performance SLAs: Establish and monitor service level agreements for platform availability and response times
Technical Debt Management: Implement strategies to measure, prioritize, and reduce technical debt
Release Management: Oversee release planning, coordination, and deployment strategies across teams
Quality & Testing Strategy
Test Automation: Drive test automation coverage targets and strategies across unit, integration, and E2E testing
Performance Testing: Establish performance benchmarks and load testing practices
Security Testing: Implement security scanning, penetration testing, and vulnerability management
Compliance Validation: Ensure continuous compliance monitoring for government requirements
Engineering Culture & Practices
Innovation Time: Establish programs for engineering innovation (hackathons, 20% time, innovation sprints)
Knowledge Sharing: Create communities of practice, tech talks, and documentation standards
Continuous Learning: Implement training programs, certification paths, and conference participation
Establish coding standards, design patterns, and architectural principles.
Implement automated quality checks, security scanning, and compliance validation.
Lead architecture reviews for major initiatives and technology decisions.
Maintain technology adoption guidelines (adopt, trial, assess, hold) for the organization.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred
10+ years of progressive software engineering experience with 5+ years in leadership roles managing engineering teams
8+ years of hands-on software development experience with enterprise-scale applications
5+ years of experience building applications on the Salesforce platform, including custom development using Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning Web Components
5+ years of experience leading development of SaaS applications in production environments
Proven track record leading engineering teams of 15+ professionals
Preferred: 3+ years working with government agencies or federal contractors
Leadership Competencies
Demonstrated success building and scaling distributed engineering teams across multiple locations
Experience managing complex, multi-year platform development initiatives
Track record of successful Salesforce implementations or migrations at enterprise scale
Proven ability to build applications from concept to production deployment
Excellence in translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Strong stakeholder management skills across public and private sectors
Technical Competencies
Salesforce Platform: Expert-level Apex, LWC, Flow Builder, Process Builder
Integration: REST/SOAP APIs, Platform Events, Change Data Capture
Development Tools: Salesforce DX, Git, VS Code, CI/CD pipelines
Testing: Unit testing, integration testing, test automation
Performance: Governor limits optimization, query optimization, bulk processing
Security: Understanding of Salesforce security model, sharing rules, field-level security
Citizenship & Clearance
Must be a US Citizen
Must be eligible to obtain Secret clearance (minimum)
Clean background suitable for positions of public trust
Ability to travel within the United States up to 15%

Preferred Qualifications
Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer I/II, JavaScript Developer)
Experience with Public Sector Solutions or Government Cloud
Knowledge of FedRAMP and government compliance requirements
Familiarity with MuleSoft or integration platforms
Experience with DevOps and CI/CD automation
Understanding of government authentication (CAC/PIV)
