About Salesforce

We’re Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI+ Data +CRM. Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too — driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world. If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good – you’ve come to the right place.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for architecting and developing advanced search infrastructure and information retrieval systems to power agentic commerce experiences. You will design and implement solutions that enable AI-driven agents to discover, evaluate, and transact on behalf of users, fundamentally transforming how commerce operates in the age of digital agents. Your work will focus on building scalable, high-performance platforms that leverage large language models (LLMs), vector search, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to support next-generation automation and decision-making in commerce. You’ll have the opportunity to experiment with state-of-the-art search and AI technologies, iterate rapidly, and deliver impactful solutions that drive business value. Join us to define the future of search and commerce in the age of intelligent AI agents!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect, build, and optimize search infrastructure: Design and implement robust, scalable, and low-latency search and retrieval systems tailored for agentic commerce, including support for hybrid search (lexical, vector, and structured search) and real-time AI retrieval.

  • Develop and integrate information retrieval solutions: Leverage LLMs, RAG pipelines, and advanced ranking models to enable intelligent product discovery, contextual recommendations, and automated decision-making by AI agents.

  • Prototype and iterate quickly: Rapidly build and test prototypes to validate new approaches and refine solutions before scaling to production.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Partner with product managers, data scientists, AI/ML engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver practical, user-focused solutions that align with business goals.

  • Drive agentic commerce strategy: Contribute to the evolution of commerce systems optimized for AI agents, focusing on structured data accessibility, API-first design, and transparency to facilitate seamless agent integration.

  • Ensure scalability and reliability: Architect systems that can handle massive data volumes, high query throughput, and mission-critical reliability for global commerce operations.

  • Balance innovation and pragmatism: Evaluate when to build custom models and infrastructure versus leveraging existing tools and frameworks for optimal outcomes.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset: You thrive on solving complex problems, taking ownership, and driving ideas from conception to production.

  • Deep search infrastructure expertise: Proven experience architecting and implementing large-scale search, indexing, and information retrieval systems.

  • Strong systems developer: Skilled in designing distributed, high-availability platforms with a focus on performance and scalability.

  • Collaborative and opinionated: Bring strong technical perspectives but work well with diverse teams, listening and adapting as needed.

  • Fast executor with long-term vision: Deliver rapid solutions while ensuring they are extensible, maintainable, and aligned with future growth.

  • Passion for agentic commerce: Excited by the opportunity to shape the future of commerce in the AI agent era.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive backend development experience (e.g., Java, Python, Go, or similar).

  • Deep knowledge of search infrastructure, indexing, retrieval models, and ranking algorithms.

  • Experience with LLMs, AI/ML frameworks, and prompt engineering.

  • Familiarity with RAG pipelines and vector search technologies.

  • Proficiency in designing and consuming APIs; experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar).

  • Strong data modeling, processing, and systems architecture skills.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience building or scaling AI-driven platforms, agent-based systems, or commerce search solutions.

  • Knowledge of frameworks such as LangGraph or similar AI/ML tooling.

  • Background in e-commerce, retail technology, or agentic commerce strategies.

  • Contributions to open-source search or information retrieval projects.
