The Network Delivery team is a dynamic, global team delivering and supporting the Salesforce infrastructure to meet the substantial growth needs of the business. We are looking for passionate Network Engineers who are fascinated by the technologies behind the Internet and cloud computing. The team is essential to the deployment of a consistent and stable infrastructure that both meets network engineering design standards and product goals. Our team believes that automation is key to building a scalable global network. In addition to fundamental networking skills, engineers must have Linux experience and a background in network automation. Proficiency in Python or Shell Scripting is required. Lead Network Engineers are expected to self-manage several projects at a time, providing regular status updates and identifying and pushing through obstacles.
Responsibilities
As a member of Network Delivery, your primary responsibility will be to deploy, refresh and decommission at scale our network across multiple global Data Centers.
Work closely with our automation teams in defining the tools that allow us to scale and execute rapidly but safely.
Create scripts/power-tools for automating network configuration lifecycle using tools such as Python, GoLang, etc.
Perform proactive network maintenance to deliver and/or modify supported services.
Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
Work cross-functionally with Sourcing, Technical Project Management, Network Architecture, Data Center Engineering and Network Software Engineering to generate implementation plans including Method of Procedure (MOP), Bill of Materials (BOM), Capacity Requests (CR), patch plans and rack elevations.
Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous, possessing strong project management and time management skills. The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment is essential.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 5 years of IP networking experience with designing, deploying and supporting large-scale service providers, data centers, and/or enterprise network infrastructure.
High level of proficiency and experience in configuring and troubleshooting IP routing/switching technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, ISIS and OSPF with emphasis on Cisco and Juniper ecosystems.
Experience with Cisco vPC troubleshooting and configuration
Solid understanding of data center design and operational best practices. Experience with field-based work in Colocation Facilities, Internet Exchanges, or Central Offices a plus.
High level of proficiency and experience configuring and troubleshooting load balancers, with emphasis on the F5 ecosystem. Knowledge of firewalls, access-lists, IPSec configurations, and troubleshooting..
Strong analytical approach to problem-solving and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues quickly, while successfully handling multiple priorities.
Must work well as part of a globally distributed team in a high-energy environment
Demonstrated ability to generate and maintain technical documentation
Must possess good time-management abilities
Desired Skills / Experience:
Network certifications such as CCNP or JNCIP are preferred; Expert level certifications a plus.
Strong familiarity with Linux OS/networking. Administrative scripting experience with Python, bash scripting, and/or consuming RESTful APIs.
Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef or similar technologies.
Knowledge of revision control software (ex. Git) and development lifecycle.
Prior understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
