We’re looking for an experienced analyst to support the delivery of Salesforce’s Nature Positive Strategy across the organization. Salesforce has set a commitment to develop a plan to measure, manage, and reduce our nature impacts. This position will support in the delivery of that commitment, ensuring that Salesforce has robust nature-related data (particularly focused on water) to inform target setting, operational changes, and any required disclosures.

This position will report to the VP, Climate Action (Nature team) and be dotted line to the Senior Director, Emissions Reduction (Decarbonization team). They will work closely with the Nature team and cross-functional business partners, and form a deep partnership with the Emissions Reduction team, who are responsible for Salesforce’s GHG footprinting and environmental reporting process. Note: the carbon accounting team is on the PST time zone (West Coast, USA). While you are not expected to work those hours you will need to be flexible, joining critical meetings and staying up to speed with updates.

Responsibilities:

  • Data collection/management and reporting for nature-related impacts

    • Develop and implement data-collection processes and systems for

      • forecasting and reducing nature-related impacts (e.g. water footprint across value chain)

      • tracking and measuring program outcomes (e.g. trees, hectares restored/conserved, community impacts, biodiversity impacts).

    • Collect data (ex. water consumption, withdrawal, discharge, and other critical metrics) for offices, data centers, public cloud and other key suppliers, in partnership with Emissions Reduction analysts

    • During carbon accounting season (November - March) the main role will be assisting mostly with general GHG accounting needs, data collection, & QA/QCing data, documentation, & controls for assurance.

    • Complete the water section in the annual CDP report.

  • Data reporting

    • Deliver clear and timely nature-related data and insights to business partners to inform decision making, using data visualization tools such as Tableau

    • Lead and coordinate the quantitative contributions for the Nature components of the annual Stakeholder Impact Report

  • Project and Stakeholder Management

    • Facilitate collaboration with internal partners like procurement, infrastructure, real estate, etc, to implement nature-positive initiatives (e.g. upleveling data about operations in high water scarcity regions)

    • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure Salesforce is prepared for and compliant with mandatory and voluntary ESG frameworks and reporting standards

    • Draft presentations and reports for internal collaborators

  • Support Nature team meetings, and other nature and climate projects and team operations as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in environment, sustainability, nature accounting, or related fields. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)

  • Experience with Greenhouse Gas Protocol and footprinting

  • Experience with quantitative analysis, including making sense of large unstructured data sets and maintaining complex data models and data management systems

  • Keen attention to detail and data accuracy.

  • Ability to translate data into visuals and messaging for internal leadership

  • Comfortable working with and using new software tools. Experience with Tableau, Salesforce CRM Analytics, or other data visualization software is a plus.

  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and build relationships with key internal and external partners

  • Demonstrated experience managing several concurrent projects (i.e., project management expertise, excellent time management, excellent organization and prioritization skills)

  • Excellent skills in Google Sheets, Slides & Docs, experience with Slack and Quip are a plus

  • You are self motivated, team-oriented, hands-on, adaptive, and have positive attitude
