Salesforce’s Global Field Marketing (GFM) organization is a fast-evolving team at the forefront of this mission. We are seeking an experienced Director, Marketing Strategy & Planning to join GFM’s Strategy & Planning team. This team drives the strategic direction and owns the planning process for the Global Field Marketing team, with deep connection to the business. As the leader of a high impact team, the Director, Marketing Strategy & Planning will set the foundations and lead the global organization through annual, quarterly and ongoing planning, measurement, forecasting and goal setting. This individual will set the bar for being a collaborative, trusted business partner that can operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards. They will bring simplicity while acknowledging the nuances of the go-to-market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Connection into business and product planning - understanding company goals, identifying key initiatives, priorities, and goals for marketing organization
  • Drive, articulate and document marketing strategy - full funnel, integrated marketing view
  • Translation of business strategy to annual marketing plan, and vice versa
  • Reconciliation of data driven inputs into strategic insights - with data ranging from budgets, performance data, company and business results, market and competitive intelligence
  • Create clarity and understanding of performance of marketing activities and how they are impacting the targeted outcomes
  • Orchestrate the design and implementation of the Global Field Marketing planning and goal setting process design, documentation and execution
  • Define key performance metrics and targets, build reports and dashboards to derive insights into the health of the business, identify areas of weakness, and present improvement recommendations to leadership
  • Strong cross functional partnership - with budget owners, business owners, analytics, business drivers
  • Narrative writing (in the style of the Amazon 6-pager,) strategy slides and executive summaries
  • Translation of marketing plan to non-marketing (business) audiences
  • Forecasting - using historical resource and performance data to predict and report on future outcomes
  • Team leadership - people manager

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
  • 8+ years of professional experience, ideally in marketing strategy/business operations roles
  • 3+ years of direct leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Executive presence and presentation skills
  • Self-starter and high degree of motivation to go above and beyond the task at hand

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of marketing strategy or planning experience, preferably in a technology company
  • Consulting experience is a plus
  • Experience with data analysis and financial modeling
  • Ability to translate sophisticated information into easily consumable insights
  • Ability to influence and impact without authority, operate in ambiguity, and tackle difficult problems
  • Strong interpersonal and cross group collaboration skills
  • Ability to drive simplicity within a complex and matrix environment
  • Experience with Tableau, SQL

For Colorado-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $159,000 to $230,600.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $174,800 to $253,600.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
