Role Description

We are seeking a Principal User Researcher for Marketing Cloud who can distill complex problems into insights that inform product, design, development and business decisions. You seek out and triangulate data from diverse sources. You pursue new research methods to get at the heart of the issue, and you have expertise with the ‘tried and true’ ones. You always put the customers' needs first and are unwavering in your desire to provide the best experiences for users. You eagerly use new research methodologies to understand users and problem spaces, dig deep to uncover and synthesize insights, and build narratives to frame complex problems. You’re passionate about technology and even more passionate about people.

Your Impact

  • Provide strategic and tactical insights to advise product adoption work for our Marketing Cloud Research & Insights team.
  • Own and manage evaluative research processes, e.g., concept evaluation and design testing, across the Marketing Cloud business and provide insights that help make Marketing products easier for our customers to use.
  • Work with partners, including key executives, to create compelling narratives for how we can make Marketing Cloud products easier to use and adopt.
  • Partner and closely with a wide range of product, design, marketing, and engineering teams across Marketing Cloud to drive research impact.


Minimum Requirements

  • Must have 10+ years of experience conducting research in user experience, product design, or technology contexts
  • Expert understanding of research methods (qualitative and quantitative) and standard processes, and familiarity with a broad range of user research tools
  • Proven track record influencing product direction and strategy with actionable insights
  • Ability to plan, design, implement and communicate both strategic and tactical research engagements
  • Proactively partner with senior management across cross-functional teams, including product, design, engineering, customer success, and solution architects to identify and advocate for product strategy rooted in data and customer insights
  • Synthesize research findings into actionable insights, crafting narratives to frame problems and highlight the business value of recommended solutions
  • Socialize insights with cross-functional partners to influence their decision-making
  • Experience with AI, business software, solutions, technology
  • Familiarity with basic statistical methods and concepts
  • Excellent project management, communication, storytelling, and presentation skills
  • Bonus: Previous research experience in technology or SaaS domains

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $204,400 to $296,400.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $223,000 to $323,400.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
