Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too — driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world. If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good – you’ve come to the right place.

About Salesforce:

Salesforce, the Customer Success Platform and world's #1 CRM, empowers companies to connect with their customers in a whole new way. The company was founded on three disruptive ideas: a new technology model in cloud computing, a pay-as-you-go business model, and a new integrated corporate philanthropy model. These founding principles have taken our company to great heights, including being named one of Forbes’s “World’s Most Innovative Company” five years in a row and one of Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” eight years in a row. We are the fastest growing of the top 10 enterprise software companies, and this level of growth equals incredible opportunities to grow a career at Salesforce. Together, with our whole Ohana (Hawaiian for "family") made up of our employees, customers, partners and communities, we are working to improve the state of the world.

Job Description:

The Salesforce legal team delivers innovative, trusted and world-class legal services to advance and protect Salesforce's interests while creating a fulfilling work environment for our legal family. Salesforce seeks to hire an in-house employment lawyer for the APAC region. This role will play a key role in supporting the business and Employee Success (HR) in India (as lead) and throughout the APAC region (including Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia).

We want to create and maintain a legal team that is representative and supportive of the communities in which we operate and look forward to applications from lawyers with a disability, LGBTIQ+ candidates and lawyers who bring different experiences to the team.

We need a great employment lawyer to join our fun, global, multi-cultural team. Covering multiple jurisdictions requires a lawyer who is flexible, curious, and open-minded. The work is varied and no two days are ever the same. This attorney will be based in one of Salesforce's India offices (Gurgaon, Bangalore or Hyderabad) and report to the Senior Director of Global Employment Law (APAC) based in Sydney.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a trusted legal partner to the Employee Success organization and the business navigating sensitive and wide-ranging issues from employment agreement terms, hiring and recruiting issues, discipline, investigations, working hours, leaves of absence, workplace adjustments, terminations, workforce restructuring activities, mergers and acquisitions and related matters.

  • Work with Labor Consultant to resolve any issues on statutory labor filings.

  • Partner with various internal stakeholders to provide guidance on employment-related policies, guidelines, and processes with an approach that balances pragmatism, risk, and compliance.

  • Team with our global employment lawyers and HR compliance specialists to represent and integrate regional requirements in global projects.

  • Collaborate with privacy legal team and other legal specialists.

  • Conduct engaging training for ES and business.

  • Respond to demand letters and administrative or governmental inquiries.

  • Manage labor and employment litigation matters, partnering with in-house litigation counsel, as they arise.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 12+ years combined experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department, preferably with experience as an India and APAC employment in-house lawyer (or secondee) in a multinational company

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and negotiation skills - crisp, clear and to the point

  • Commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion across multiple cultural settings

  • A good listener, quickly able to identify the critical issues

  • Highly responsive, collaborative and service-oriented attitude

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment and across multiple time-zones

  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with demanding (but really nice) internal clients

  • Sound and practical business judgment - the ability to translate legal concepts simply and across cultures

  • Emphasis on what is right, and not just what is legal

  • Willingness to travel to all India offices and in region

  • BA or JD in Legal Studies or Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the skills you'll use every day for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
