The Category Manager is an individual contributor who is responsible for driving sourcing strategies as well as leading technology-sourcing projects based on the current portfolio and technology stack. This individual will negotiate, administer, and manage the full range of commercial contracts focusing on Software and SaaS needs. The Category Manager will also maintain the relationships between Salesforce and strategic software suppliers through day-to-day interactions and supplier business reviews while achieving cost-effective procurement decisions for the company.

This position is hybrid, reporting to the Sr. Sourcing Manager; Software on the Technology Sourcing Team.

Performance Objectives:

  • Implement software-related supplier-sourcing strategies to ensure high quality, on-time delivery, and cost competitiveness.

  • Understanding of business contract law, and experience with negotiating contracts for the licensing of software; both conventional and SaaS.

  • Collect data and perform spend analysis, and category profiling, then analyze, and report data to explain economic forecast market trends, applying mathematical models and statistical techniques for cost modeling.

  • Provide category reports detailing spending and usage trends, supplier performance metrics, savings, and improvement opportunities, etc.

  • Support implementation of procurement standard processes for cross-functional project teams.

  • Apply RFI (Request for Information), RFP (Request for Proposal), and RFQ (Request for Quote) techniques to identify, select, and engage with suppliers to ensure competitive market advantage.

  • Implement proactive procurement philosophies, strategies, policies, procedures, and systems to meet business requirements and cost objectives.

  • Coordinate and support business reviews with suppliers including development, preparation, and review of supplier scorecards and performance metrics


Position Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the Values & Behaviors for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)

  • A technical education, or knowledge of Software, SaaS licensing, and the Public Cloud is a must.

  • Experience using Salesforce and Coupa is desirable.

  • Experience in sourcing processes (i.e., RFx development and execution) and reviewing, analyzing, drafting, and negotiating contract terms for major projects of medium/high complexity.

  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to analyze and explain pricing models and contract terms.

  • Strong understanding of legal concepts as related to contract negotiations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong social skills. Strong business insight.

  • Excellent relationship management skills, as well as the ability to work with suppliers, internal business customers, and senior management.

  • Work well under pressure, ability to multitask, and skilled time manager that is comfortable working under minimal direction.
