About the Team

OpenAI's Applied AI org is the product development arm of the company, bringing the power of advanced AI models to the world via APIs and user-interface products (ChatGPT, Sora, etc). The Product Ops team is responsible for streamlining and automating org operations and information channels (across Applied and with adjacent functions) to set strong foundations for collaboration at scale, and providing operational expertise and leverage for product teams bringing solutions to market.

About the Role

This Product Operations Manager role is for a senior IC to partner closely with the leaders of ChatGPT for Work (see ChatGPT for Enterprise, for Teams, for Edu).

Our ideal candidate has deep experience in Product Operations at one or more scaling tech companies, working very closely with Product/Engineering and XFN partners, on both central systems (e.g. launch calendar / launch readiness) and bringing specific products to market by running betas and launch activities.

This role can be based in San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will focus on:

  • Enterprise Product Launch Management: Drive and optimize end-to-end product launch processes, ensuring cross-functional alignment and smooth transitions from pre-launch to post-launch.

  • Strategic Initiative Execution: Lead high-impact projects (e.g., enterprise rollouts), managing execution, communication, and continuous improvement through post-launch retrospectives.

  • Product-GTM Collaboration: Partner with GTM teams to translate customer insights into actionable product strategies, ensuring alignment with priorities and clear communication.

  • Enterprise Customer Focus: Support GTM efforts through structured processes that address enterprise customer needs, ensuring timely product updates and feedback integration.

  • Scalable Team Operations: Foster cross-functional collaboration, streamline communication, and implement metrics-driven processes to support growth, complexity, and operational efficiency.

  • Assist in building and scaling the Product Operations function at OpenAI, helping to shape strategy, culture, and operational excellence.

  • Are able to understand our code base and models to determine appropriate solutions.

  • Can understand technical aspects of Large Language Model architectures and training pipelines in order to guide model training campaigns.

Specific technologies / skills that will be helpful in this role

  • Experience with OpenAI LLM APIs (text generation, structured outputs, function calling)

  • Programming Languages: Python, JavaScript (for automation scripts).

  • No-Code/Low-Code Platforms: e.g. Airtable, Zapier, Retool.

  • Data Analysis & Visualization Tools: Experience with data languages/tools like SQL, Google Sheets automations, Databricks.
