Engineering Technician

NVIDIA is now looking for a motivated Engineering Technician for NVIDIA's on-premise, private cloud infrastructure! In this role, you will be faced with the challenge of providing and maintaining a compute farm of systems which includes Builders, Packagers, and Testers that act as a test-bed for our developers worldwide to test various Nvidia hardware and software prior to release. The environment huge, the scale massive, and the ask enormous! We need YOU to help US maintain and drive our world-class DCs/Labs to produce timely, deterministic results for our Engineers and expectant Users worldwide!

What you will be doing:

  • Work closely and pro-actively with other engineering teams such as system architects, chip and board designers, software/firmware engineers, HW/SW QA teams and Applications engineering teams to drive design, development, debug and release of next generations products;
  • Maintain and run a large Compute Farm of Builders, Packagers, Testers, and Core Infrastructure;
  • Work daily/diligently to maintain Service Level Agreement (SLAs) and Turn Around Time (TAT);
  • Work daily/diligently to maintain Availability targets;
  • Take active part in systems deployment and technology bring-ups;
  • Be responsible for daily systems recovery;
  • Take active part in systems qualifications;
  • Inventory and life-cycle management of ALL Nvidia assets within the DCs/labs;
  • Collect data for critical execution metrics;
  • Create documentation detailing our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Adhere to DC/Lab standards and best-practices for maintaining a clean, well-organized, and above all - safe - environment;
  • Help maintain a world-class DC/Lab that produces timely, deterministic results for our Engineers and other stakeholders;

What we need to see:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technical Major (or equivalent experience);
  • Ability to perform independently - and in many cases autonomously - without requiring manager or senior staff supervision/guidance;
  • Ability to work with teammates of various abilities and experiences (technicians, engineers, systems administrators), to follow instructions, and take leads from senior/tenured staff;
  • To be successful in this position, you should have a love of working with close-knit, multi-disciplinary teams, in a high-speed environment, and enjoy hands-on work with innovative, cutting-edge platforms and technologies;
  • 1-2 years (or more) working in data centers or large engineering labs;
  • Experience installing, handling, and troubleshooting PCBs such as PC Desktop, Workstations, and Server motherboards, GPUs, NICs, etc.;
  • Experience with system deployment (rack and stack) and related technology bring-ups and deployments (GPUs);
  • Experience with multiple OEM systems and system integrators;
  • Experience with multiple distros/versions of Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems;
  • Experience with TCP/IP networking, DHCP, and DNS;
  • Experience with rack power and PDUs;
  • Experience with cabling (power, ethernet, etc.);
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral at all levels; Able to explain highly technical concepts to less technical people;
  • Experience with MSOffice Suite or Google Docs; Spreadsheet proficiency required;
  • Experience using JIRA and ServiceNow or other such job ticketing tools.
  • Experience using Netbox or other such DCIM/CMDB tools.

  • PC/MAC hobbyist/enthusiast; Gamer; Knows Nvidia;
  • Hardware interest/focus; NVIDIA GPU knowledge a PLUS!;
  • Visio/CAD experience for mocking up or documenting rack elevations;
  • Experience with GIT/Perforce or other such SCMs;
  • Experience with SQL querying of DBs;
  • Experience with scripting (shell, python) and can read code (TCL, Java);
  • Mechanically inclined and capable of physical/manual labor; Can handle a screw driver and other such tools;
  • Energetic/enthusiastic and can iterate over repetitive tasks;
  • Personable and team focused;
  • Capable/quick learner;

The base salary range is 66,000 USD - 109,250 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
