NVIDIA is now looking for a Silicon Photonic and Optical designer to join our Electro-Optics group.

Silicon photonic (Sip) has been the talk of the town for the last 20 years as the next stage now that Moore’s law is reaching it end. In recent years silicon photonic has become an important part of Data-Centers Interconnect and has the potential to expand its reach to other exciting fields. At Nvidia’s Electro-Optics group we develop, design, characterize and model silicon photonic devices. This position offers the opportunity to have a real impact on the future technology of a multifaceted, technology-focused company impacting product lines ranging from consumer graphics to self-driving cars and the growing field of artificial intelligence.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design and model Silicon photonic components using optical simulation and analytical methods.

  • Measure and characterize discrete and integrated electro-optical components and sip devices in both electrical and optical domains in a state-of-the-art optical high-speed lab.

  • Design and execution of new experiments, lab automation and data analysis.

  • During your work, you will participate in the process of bringing up a new technology from the R&D stage, to the Engineering and production, this is an opportunity for close collaborations with both Nvidia researchers and Engineering teams taking our products and implementing them into the final products.

  • You will be working with a highly skilled group of engineers and physicist proficient in the multi-disciplinary field of silicon photonics.

What we need to see:

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Physics or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience in optics.

  • Familiarity with optical simulation tools and numerical simulations (finite element. Etc.)

  • Matlab or Python proficiency and willingness to work in any needed programing language

  • Creativity in finding solutions to tough problems.

  • Optical Lab experience

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience in lab automation and instrument control.

  • System level and/or full optical link understanding.

  • Knowledge in Signal processing.

  • Knowledge in Signal integrity and analog modeling.

  • Strong communication skills and ability & desire to work as a great teammate are a huge plus.
