NVIDIA is developing the NVIDIA DRIVE AV Solution (NDAS), powered by the latest advancement in AI and accelerated computing. We are seeking a highly motivated planning expert to join our Autonomous Vehicles (AV) China Drive-Alpha team in Shanghai. As a principal software engineer in planning, you will be driving the engineering execution and problem solving with the local teams, and resolve dependencies for component teams' deliverables.

China Drive-Alpha consists of proficient domain-experts spanning the full stack of autonomous driving, including perception, fusion, prediction, planning and control, many with proven development experiences for the highly competitive China market in key L2 functions like ACC, LK/LC, Automated Parking Assist (APA), TSA, and Active Safety, and advanced L2+/L2++ function like highway NOA and Urban NOA with and without HD-Map. China Drive-Alpha is responsible for the integration and sign-off of NDAS component teams' merge request/change lists. China Drive-Alpha promotes validated changes to merge into stable branch, analyze the root-cause (RC) of the regression identified, and drive the corrective actions (CA) taken by component engineering teams for a productive CI/CD process of SW development. China Drive-Alpha engineers also tightly integrate into component teams development, acting as a dependency resolver for the component teams to deliver cross-function enhancement that are most impactful to NDAS product. China Drive-Alpha cultivates collaboration among component teams' engineers, and establishes positive relationships and communications with partner organizations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide in-depth and insightful technical feedback on the planning SW stack, based on the performance metrics demonstrated through offline-replay and in-car testing.

  • Identify the weak links of the planning modules, and make them strong.

  • Actively participate the problem solving discussions with planning teams, and conduct code reviews on critical merge requests/change lists.

  • Integrate, test and sign-off planning SW stack's code change and model update.

  • Decompose a complicated cross-function problem into actionable items, and coordinate a concerted effort among multiple collaborators.

  • Partner with planning teams to establish a meaningful regression prevention test set, and replay KPI workflow with great ODD coverage.

  • Join force with NDAS developers, whenever necessary, provide your domain expert input to a solution for hard problems, and produce production-quality code to resolve a dependency and/or implement the required features.

What we need to see:

  • BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields or equivalent experience.

  • 15+ total years of related experience in software development, with 5+ most recent years of hands-on dev experience in planning for autonomous vehicles.

  • Great coding skills in modern C++.

  • Deep understanding of the planning algorithms.

  • Hands-on experience in debugging hard ADAS SW problems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to strive in a cross-disciplinary environment.

Ways To Stand Out From The Crowd:

  • Experience of working as a hands-on tech lead for the planning module.

  • Experience of working on prediction module

  • Hands-on development experience of an SOP-ed AV product.

  • Rich experience of in-car testing with great intuition of first-level triaging (from symptom to component).

  • Familiar with CI/CD process, test automation, Jenkins, Log-Sim reply.

NVIDIA has some of the most forward-thinking and hardworking people in the world. If you're creative and autonomous, we want to hear from you!
