NVIDIA's data centers host ground-breaking products across high-performance computing to machine learning applications for autonomous vehicles and healthcare. At the heart of our data centers is the ability to engineer electrical designs in close coupling to NVIDIA's industry-leading GPU and DGX products. We are seeking an experienced and innovative Research and Development (R&D) Leader for Electrical Engineering to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for driving innovation in developing new products and technologies.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers in the research, design, development, testing, and implementation of new products and technologies

  • Collaborate with multiple teams, including marketing, manufacturing, and other engineering subject areas, to ensure successful product development and launch

  • Analyze and evaluate electrical products and technologies, identifying areas for improvement and potential new product opportunities

  • Lead industry trends, technologies, and standard methodologies for electrical designs for AI data centers

  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements

  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress and results

  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment

  • Collaborate with product owners and technical leads to identify and establish requirements for our next-generation AI data centers

What we need to see:

  • Excellent interpersonal and 5+ years of leadership experience: success depends on building rapport and credibility with multiple stakeholder teams across the organization

  • Proven experience in research and development in the electrical engineering field

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience) and 10+ overall years of professional experience in data center design

  • Experience with generation to consumption across electrical infrastructure design and implementation as well as experience in electrical load management within mission-critical facilities. Expert knowledge of short circuit coordination and arc flash studies

  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations, including Life Safety, BOCA, NEC, NFPA, and OSHA

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical power paths from utility distribution, including high, medium, and low voltage systems for both IT and Mechanical to the rack. Including power distribution for UPS, Generators, Floor PDUs, RPPs, busways, and power supplies/power shelves, Chillers, Cooling Towers, CRAC, CRAH, as required, supporting data center environments.

  • Understanding of electrical design and operational challenges with high power rack densities

  • High-level understanding of mechanical air-side and water-side systems for mission-critical environments and various data center HVAC topologies

  • Solid understanding of control systems, EPMS, building, and IT monitoring protocols, data analysis, and reporting

  • Proficiency in software packages for design and analysis of electrical power systems, CAD (Creo), Autodesk; NavisWork 3D modeling, and CFD analysis software

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering and complementary fields

  • Experience with startup and configuration of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and SCADA workstations.

  • Experience with Direct Current (DC) power distribution

  • Knowledge of commissioning for critical environments and working with direct-to-chip liquid cooling technologies

  • Experienced working in commercial and built-to-suit colocation data center environments and understanding of international electrical systems and design standards

The base salary range is 196,000 USD - 402,500 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
