Narrative:

Tungsten Automation produces award-winning solutions for capture, document processing, and business process automation.

As a key piece of our strategy to continuously improve our products and disrupt the market through innovation,

we are looking for a Senior Research Scientist for our research group in San Diego.

You will have significant impact on current and future products for document processing,

data mining and analysis, and business process automation.

As part of the Tungsten Automation research group, you will perform applied research, build prototypes, evaluate the performance of

existing or new algorithms, and help transition technology to engineering groups. We are looking for an individual that is

able to bring the newest scientific developments to bear and make them work for a real-world problem.

Tasks:

- Perform research in statistics/math/computer science targeting problems that are relevant to Tungsten Automation customers

- Design, execute, evaluate, and document experiments that may involve large amounts of data

- Participate in the design, construction, evaluation, and documentation of research prototypes that embody a particular algorithmic solution for a relevant problem

- Participate in the design and implementation of product-level components for integration into one of our products.

- Participate in the documentation of algorithms, methods, and implementations for IP protection purposes.


Required Skills

Required Skills:

- Extremely strong background in machine learning and statistics

  • Ability to apply scientific models and knowledge to real-world problems
  • Good computer science skills, including:

    o Algorithms and data structures

    o At least two high-level programming languages

- Very good communication skills, capable of communicating aspects of Tungsten Automation research to clients within and outside of the company

Preferred Skills:

· Graph theory;

· Programming languages: C++, C#, Python

Required Experience

Required experience:

· Strong theoretical background with practical experience in 4 or more of the following areas:

o Machine Learning

o Artificial Intelligence

o Deep Learning

o Neural Networks

o Natural Language Processing

o Computer Vision

o Image Processing

o Text/Image Classification

o Information Extraction

o Text Mining

· Evaluation of algorithm effectiveness using real and/or simulated data

Preferred experience:

· Use of relevant open source tools (NLTK, OpenCV, Tensorflow, Keras, FastText, etc.)

- Masters (PhD strongly preferred) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics

- 5+ years experience in developing algorithms and prototypes for information extraction, knowledge discovery, classification etc.
