Our Engineering & Tech Operations team builds and operates complex solutions for global business challenges that cross cultures, legal jurisdictions, and impacts millions of people and businesses every day. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Manager, IT Integrations.
Responsibility
Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of high-performance backend services and integration solutions using the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and Java/Other OOP language
Champion "API-led connectivity" by designing and managing the lifecycle of Experience, Process, and System APIs (REST/RAML/OAS)
Write complex, efficient, and maintainable backend code for core business logic, including advanced DataWeave transformations and custom Java components
Collaborate with Architects and Product Managers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and scalable system designs
Serve as the technical anchor for the team: mentor junior engineers, conduct rigorous code reviews, and enforce coding standards and security best practices
Design and implement cloud-native architectures involving microservices, API Gateways, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
Analyze and resolve critical performance bottlenecks in API throughput and backend processing
Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines (Github SaaS, etc.) for automated testing and deployment of MuleSoft applications and Java services
Ensure all solutions strictly adhere to security protocols (OAuth2, mTLS, OIDC) and data governance standards
Stay ahead of the curve on backend trends, integration patterns (Event-Driven, Pub/Sub), and the Anypoint Platform roadmap
Job Designation
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring
Basic
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
8+ years of professional experience in software development, with a deep focus on backend engineering and enterprise integration
3+ years of hands-on experience specifically with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (Mule 4, API Manager, Runtime Manager)
Experience with Object-Oriented Programming, specifically Java and the Spring Boot framework
Experience with DataWeave 2.0 for complex data mapping and transformation
Experience with microservices architecture, software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms
Experience with database technologies (SQL flavors like PostgreSQL/Oracle and NoSQL like MongoDB)
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and serverless concepts (Lambda/Functions)
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and branching strategies
Preferred
Excellent problem-solving skills with a history of debugging complex distributed systems
Strong communication skills to articulate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders
MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect or Integration Architect
AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
Background in building Event-Driven Architectures using tools like Kafka, or Anypoint MQ
Knowledge of building Agent, MCP and Agent Cache
Experience working in a “Zero Trust” Regulatory, Compliance environment
Experience with SAAS ecosystem integrations (Salesforce, Workday, Oracle, Snowflake)
Familiarity with Service Mesh (Istio, Linkerd) and API Governance
Familiarity with GraphQL design and implementation
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and leading sprint planning
Ability to multi-task and lead technical initiatives in a fast-paced environment
Wage Transparency
Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:
California: $157,500.00 - $254,350.00 base salary
This role is also eligible for the following:
- Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance.
- Stock: This role is eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
