This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, IT Operations.

Responsibility

  • Lead the assessment, evaluation, and strategic enhancement of our existing event technology stack and configurations, identifying opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and scalability

  • Drive the adoption of new, cutting-edge AV, streaming, and virtual event technologies to elevate the attendee experience and expand our event capabilities

  • Develop and implement technical roadmaps for future event technology investments and upgrades

  • Ensure all technology solutions align with company security policies, IT infrastructure, and long-term strategic goals

  • Develop, document, and regularly test comprehensive BCP and DR plans for all critical event technologies and platforms

  • Implement resilient system architectures and redundancy measures to minimize downtime and mitigate risks during live events

  • Lead incident response for event technology failures, ensuring swift resolution and clear communication.

  • Establish and maintain meticulous documentation standards for all event technology configurations, system architectures, workflows, and best practices

  • Create detailed technical schematics, run-of-show documents, equipment inventories, and operational manuals for all setups and enhancements

  • Develop a centralized knowledge base for the event tech team and relevant stakeholders, ensuring continuity and efficient onboarding.

  • Partner strategically with and manage external AV production companies, technical vendors, and freelance specialists, ensuring they align with our evolving technology standards and BCP/DR requirements

  • Negotiate contracts, review proposals, and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met, focusing on technology reliability and innovation

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between internal teams (e.g., IT, facilities, marketing, communications) and external vendors, translating business needs into technical solutions

  • Oversee the end-to-end technical production of events, from complex setup and rigorous rehearsals to flawless live execution and efficient teardown

  • Lead and direct technical crews (internal and external), ensuring adherence to established technical specifications and quality standards

  • Manage and troubleshoot live audio, video, lighting, presentation systems, and streaming platforms, acting as the ultimate technical authority during events

  • Ensure seamless integration of all technical components, including presentation content, remote speakers, and interactive elements

  • Develop and manage technical budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective solutions for technology investments and event execution

  • Lead technical project timelines, resource allocation, and risk management for all event technology initiatives

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Live Event Production, Media Arts, Communications, IT) or equivalent practical experience

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in event technical production, with at least 3-5 years in a senior or lead role, specifically focusing on technology infrastructure and strategy for complex events

  • Experience in evaluating, implementing, and optimizing event technology stacks (AV, streaming, virtual platforms)

  • Experience in developing and executing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans for event technology

  • Experience creating detailed technical specifications, system diagrams, and operational guides

  • Experience in live audio (mixers, microphones, PA systems), video production (cameras, switchers, encoders, projectors, LED walls), lighting design, and a variety of streaming technologies (e.g., Zoom Webinar/Events, Microsoft Teams Live Events, Vimeo, YouTube Live)

  • Experience with network infrastructure and IT requirements for live events (wired/wireless, bandwidth, security protocols)

  • Experience with various presentation software (e.g., Google slides, PowerPoint, Keynote) and advanced virtual event platforms

  • Experience with professional AV equipment brands and control systems (e.g., Extron, Crestron, Shure, Blackmagic Design, Grass Valley)

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues calmly and effectively in a live environment

  • Flexibility to travel as required for events (approximately 10% of time) and work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as dictated by event schedules

Preferred

  • Exceptional documentation skills

  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills

  • Excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure

  • Certifications in AV technologies (e.g., CTS, CTS-D, Dante, Crestron, Extron)

  • Experience with advanced virtual event platforms (e.g., Zoom Events, Sessions, Webinar +, ON24, Bizzabo, Hopin) and their integration capabilities

  • Knowledge of broadcast production workflows and technologies, including remote production

  • Experience with graphic design software for event visuals (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite)

  • Familiarity with various event management software (EMS) platforms and their API integrations

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $112,800.00 - $175,000.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for the following:

  • Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance.
  • Stock: This role is eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
