What you'll do

As a Director of Employee Communications, you’ll be responsible for leading the global employee communications practice for Docusign. This is a management role, overseeing a small team of internal communications specialists supporting global employee communications. You’ll be responsible for driving a best-in-class employee communications function to support Docusign’s global employee base, generating excitement and driving strategic alignment for Docusign’s next chapter as the Intelligent Agreement Management company.

In this role, you’ll work closely with business partners and members of our executive team to determine business goals and derive communications goals, strategy and tactics both company-wide, and for leaders’ respective organizations. You will also collaborate closely with colleagues on the Corporate Communications who have a specialized focus driving communications for our customer-facing teams.

We are looking for a communications professional who loves to dig into all aspects of the work. You’ll need to be able to seek out information to support business goals, distill what you’ve found, create communications strategies, draft narratives and plans, and then implement. To succeed, you’ll be proactive, organized, and able to thrive in a matrixed environment. You are creative, have top-notch writing skills, but you love a good edit. You enjoy the challenge a tight deadline brings and have the wit and scrappiness to meet it. You love to get into the weeds and help employees learn and thrive. You are flexible in the face of change. You get joy from growing an enterprise that helps businesses and people be successful.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Communications.

Responsibility

  • Create employee communications strategies and execute on plans for the global Docusign employee base

  • Manage regular internal communications channels and events including company town halls, announcement Slack channels and more

  • Lead the internal communications team to create a cohesive team atmosphere, coaching individual contributors to flourish

  • Provide strategic counsel for Docusign executives to ensure our employees have the information they need to complete our business goals

  • Be an expert in using internal communications tactics to cultivate community, drive engagement, and help business units achieve business goals

  • Create communications plans and strategies that support business goals

  • Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders, including Corporate Communications team peers, to implement proactive and reactive internal communications programs that strengthen Docusign’s community and help our employees do their best work

  • Devise necessary communications narratives, campaigns, and materials

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • 12+ years of communications experience at major corporations
  • 8+ years experience helping drive employee communications
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent

Preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven track record of drafting narratives and messaging that differentiates companies
  • Flexible with a bias to action
  • An excitement to dig into the work personally — this is a lean and nimble team
  • Experience at public companies
  • Experience working with global teams in technology or enterprise settings
  • Excellent cross-functional communication experience; proven experience thriving in a matrixed environment
  • Strong ability to advocate and influence at any level: from executives to peers to working teams
  • Strong copywriting and editing skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues in a clear and concise manner
  • High emotional intelligence

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $134,900.00 - $216,975.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
