What you'll do
Docusign is seeking a Senior Product Counsel specializing in agreements to join our Product Counsel team. This unique role is ideal for individuals with experience as a SaaS product counsel or those with extensive commercial contracting experience across various industries, looking to transition into a product counseling role. This position will play a crucial part in integrating Lexion's AI technology into Docusign's Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) platform, enhancing our product offerings with advanced AI capabilities. More than just a lawyer, you'll be both an indispensable resource and a visionary. Partnering closely with the Product organization, you possess a strong business sense and deep legal acumen to serve as a core architect of Docusign’s agreement management solutions.
This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Associate General Counsel.
Responsibility
- Collaborate with the Product team to establish standards that underpin Docusign’s agreement management solutions
- Act as a strategic architect in defining the "legal persona" in a comprehensible format
- Engage with customers to understand their agreement management needs, translating these needs into product requirements
- Serve as an expert on agreements across various verticals, including financial services, healthcare, real estate, and IT
- Map out complex legal processes into intuitive product features
- Educate and train the Product organization on agreements and their functionality
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Design, and Legal, to develop user-friendly legal technology solutions
- Drive innovation and integration of AI technology into Docusign’s IAM platform to deliver enhanced contract management solutions
Job Designation
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring
Basic
- 8+ years of relevant experience as a practicing attorney, either as a product counsel for a SaaS company or in commercial contracting across multiple industries
- Experience counseling product and technology teams on developing new products and services, with a solid understanding of data governance and modern technology stacks
- Experience in contract lifecycle management and a desire to extend into product counseling
- Admitted to practice and in good standing with a U.S. state bar (or eligible for in-house counsel registration in California or Washington)
Preferred
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively convey complex legal concepts
- Demonstrated interest in legal technology and its potential to transform industries
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions
- Experience in contract templatization, automation, and theory across various industries
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, managing multiple projects in a fast-paced setting
Wage Transparency
Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:
California: $151,800 - $245,150 base salary
Illinois and Colorado: $145,800 - $205,950 base salary
Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $145,800 - $214,350 base salary
This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
