What you'll do

As a Senior Engineering Manager on the DocuSign platform team, you will be responsible for building foundational web-components and web-based tools for our next-generation agreement platform. Your solutions will be used by multiple DocuSign product teams, partners and customers.

The successful candidate will have a strong product engineering background and proficiency in building highly scalable distributed systems. As well as managing a large scale Production system. You’ll enjoy entrepreneurial environments where you can solve difficult problems using current technologies and tools. You’ll collaborate well with other team members when brainstorming, designing, and implementing new solutions. You will help the team succeed by thinking about ways to improve processes, suggest ways to make the team more effective, and model engineering best practices. As a member of the Platform engineering group, you will work closely with product managers, developers, and platform engineers to ensure high quality and timely product releases. You are a hands-on technical person who will be responsible for issues related to product features, performance, speed, scale, security and accessibility.


This position is a people manager role reporting to the Director of Engineering.

Responsibility

  • Be the Engineering leader responsible for executing on our product roadmap using agile practices and will champion the culture, processes, and tools required to maintain a frictionless high quality development environment
  • Be responsible for delivering products while managing the health of the code base through continuous refactoring and management of technical debt
  • Provide coaching and leadership in software best practices, automated test strategies, and work toward flattening the cost of change curve for our software products and services
  • Lead a team of engineers at various stages of their career, actively investing in their growth and development
  • Cultivate an open, collaborative, and fun work environment for yourself and your team
  • Work closely with product, design, security, customer success and other teams to provide technical expertise throughout all phases of product development

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • 8+ years of combined software development and management experience building large scale distributed systems
  • 7+ years of hands-on software development experience
  • Experience in managing large scale production systems and driving service reliability
  • Experience building high performing, secure applications and building security into the DNA of products

Preferred

  • Demonstrated track record leading high performing teams
  • Skilled in language, framework and toolset agnostic
  • Experience leading Back End teams for distributed systems
  • Demonstrated track record of being a change agent, leaving every team and process better than you found it
  • Knowledge and experience in high scale, highly available (99.99+) systems
  • Experience with Microsoft technology stack (.NET, C#, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Experience with SaaS or Cloud
  • Experience building on Azure platform

Wage Transparency

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

Washington: $164,800.00 - $242,225.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
