What You'll Do:

The Global Automation team develops and runs a wide range of first-class internal solutions that empower Criteo’s commercial and operations teams to maximise their business impact by making clients’ portfolio management, issue resolution, and performance optimisation faster, more reliable, and more actionable.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Automation, you will lead engineering execution across multiple cross-functional pods and manage a leadership layer that includes Engineering Team Leads and an Engineering Program Manager (EPM), driving both product delivery and the engineering foundations to transition from a set of powerful point solutions into a unified, intelligent experience where users can move seamlessly from signal to decision to action. A key part of this evolution is the integration of agentic AI capabilities into our solutions: pairing trusted data and workflows with context-aware guidance, automation, and assistive experiences that help users investigate issues, prioritize opportunities, and execute next best actions with confidence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and scale multiple engineering teams (3+) delivering production systems at scale, with a distributed setup and a mix of internal engineers and subcontractors.

  • Own delivery and execution across pods: planning, prioritisation, dependency management, and predictable end-to-end outcomes, balancing delivery speed, technical quality, and sustainable team performance.

  • Partner closely with Product and Design leadership to shape scope, define iterative delivery plans, and land measurable user and business impact.

  • Drive technical direction and architectural quality, with hands-on credibility to review and guide complex decisions across backend and frontend (Angular / Python) systems.

  • Raise the bar on platform trust by standardizing quality practices (CI/CD, testing strategies, code quality) and strengthening observability and incident prevention.

  • Lead modernization and legacy reduction, removing fragmented legacy systems and adopting standard, future-ready infrastructure to improve maintainability, reliability, and scalability.

  • Enable integrated internal workflows at scale, helping users move from insight to action through better navigation, notifications, and orchestration across tools, data, and modules.

  • Coach and develop leaders and senior engineers, running high-quality 1:1s, performance reviews, mentorship, and creating a culture of ownership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Run a metrics-driven engineering operating model, improving throughput, quality, and delivery efficiency through clear KPIs and feedback loops.

Who You Are:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years as an Engineering Manager.

  • Proven experience managing senior and mid-level engineers, ideally across Angular (frontend) and Python (backend) stacks.

  • Strong technical expertise in system design and backend development, with the ability to review and guide complex architectural decisions.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple teams (3+) and shipping/operating production systems at scale.

  • Solid command of modern engineering practices: CI/CD, testing strategies, code quality, observability, and operational excellence.

  • Solid people leadership: effective 1:1s, performance management, coaching, and technical mentorship for experienced engineers.

  • Data-driven mindset for improving delivery outcomes, reliability, and team throughput.

  • Clear communicator who collaborates effectively with Product, Design, and leadership, able to make trade-offs explicit and align stakeholders.

  • Nice to have (but not required):

  • Experience building internal platforms with complex user workflows (portfolio management, monitoring, troubleshooting, recommendations).

  • Experience delivering foundational capabilities for AI-assisted or agentic workflows (incremental rollout, human-in-the-loop controls, reliability/observability first).

  • Background in platform modernization programs and large-scale deprecations/migrations.

We acknowledge that many candidates may not meet every single role requirement listed above. If your experience looks a little different from our requirements but you believe that you can still bring value to the role, we’d love to see your application!
