NVIDIA's Cloud data centers host ground-breaking products across high-performance computing to machine learning applications for autonomous vehicles and healthcare. At the heart of our data centers is the ability to engineer mechanical and electrical designs in close coupling to NVIDIA's industry-leading GPU and DGX products. We are seeking a data center energy efficiency/optimization intern to embark on an enriching experience exploring the dynamic realm of chilled water (CW) facility and piping design for DCs. The focus will be on optimizing key metrics such as Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE), Carbon Usage Effectiveness (CUE), and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), offering a unique chance to contribute to the forefront of sustainable and efficient DC infrastructure. Join us in the pursuit of innovation and excellence, as we navigate the complexities of cooling solutions for the digital age.

What you'll be doing:

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary and multi-functional teams to perform detailed analysis and chip in to the design of CW facilities for data centers.

  • Build detailed Flow Network Model (FNM) to simulate 1D flow behavior in both chilled water and technology cooling loops.

  • Perform design optimization analysis, including PUE, WUE, CUE, and TCO to improve the overall efficiency of DCs infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with sustainability and performance goals.

  • Participate in the development of innovative cooling solutions to address the evolving needs of data centers.

  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of data center reference design for reliable cooling solutions.

  • Stay on top of industry trends and standard processes to advise and improve design strategies.

What we need to see:

  • Currently pursuing a Master or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering with a strong thermal and optimization background.

  • Strong understanding of thermal management principles and fluid dynamics.

  • In-depth knowledge of sustainable technologies, including sophisticated cooling

  • solutions, energy-efficient hardware, and innovative data center designs.

  • Understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to environmental sustainability.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Data analysis skills to identify areas for improvement in energy efficiency.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details.

  • Strong communication and partnership skills.

  • Persistently drive tasks and projects to successful completion

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and concepts.
